Welcome to our 72nd Mental Health Month! Launched in 1949 by Mental Health America, ours is the most highly recognized mental health awareness event in the nation. Each year, tens of thousands of organizations choose to use our official May is Mental Health Month toolkit materials.

MHA’s public education efforts are possible because of passionate mental health advocates like you, and we are so grateful for your support. Altogether, we reach millions of people with messages of health, wellness, prevention and recovery.

In 2021, we continue our theme of Tools 2 Thrive, providing practical tools that everyone can use to improve their mental health and increase their resiliency regardless of personal situation. The toolkit includes samples for communications and social media as well as printable handouts on the following topics:

  • Adapting after trauma and stress
  • Dealing with anger and frustration
  • Getting out of thinking traps
  • Processing big changes
  • Taking time for yourself
  • Radical acceptance

Have you ever felt anxious, depressed or insecure? Take a checkup from the neck up! Online screening is one of the quickest and easiest ways to determine whether you are experiencing symptoms. Mental health conditions are real, common and treatable. And recovery is possible.

How does it work? Following screening, you will be provided with further information, resources and tools to help you understand and improve your mental health. Online screening is meant to be a quick snapshot of your mental health. If your results indicate you may be experiencing symptoms of a mental illness, consider sharing your those with a doctor or therapist, who can give you a full assessment and determine more options for how to feel better.
