Overall Purpose
The purpose of this session is to educate the community about the signs and symptoms, as well as the risk factors, for developing postpartum depression including psychological and biological changes.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion, participants will be able to…
- Identify the signs of and how to better assess for problematic technology use in couple relationships.
- Identify and use effective interventions and treatment strategies for problematic technology use.
- Identify and understand ways that technology can be used to enhance relational outcomes.
Meet Our Expert Presenter
Morgan Strickland, PhD, LMFTS
Dr. Morgan Strickland, PhD, LMFTS is an Assistant Professor of Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) and the Associate Program Director for the MFT program at Converse University. She provides supervision to students in their second year of the masters program through the partnership Converse shares with Emerge Family Therapy clinic. Morgan provides individual, couple, and family therapy within her small private practice and has worked in both traditional therapeutic settings and integrated healthcare settings. Her research focuses on family violence and how survivors can remain resilient to adverse outcomes. She is interested in how violence is perpetuated through communication technologies and how MFTs and other mental health professionals can better assess and intervene in this pervasive problem. Her dissertation on cyber dating abuse won the 2020 AAMFT Foundation Graduate Student Research Award. She and her husband, Geoffrey, live in Inman with their one-year-old daughter Madi and enjoy spending time outside as a family and playing in an adult sand volleyball league.
