Overall Purpose

By the end of this one-hour workshop, participants will have a clearer understanding understanding of the impact of masculinity on accessing mental health care.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion, participants will be able to…

  1. Understand the impact masculinity plays when hypermasculine men attempt to access mental health care
  2. Describe characteristics of toxic masculinity
  3. Implement clinical considerations for men struggling with masculinity issues

Meet Our Expert Presenter
Aaron Brown, LMSW, CPSS

Aaron Brown is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) and Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) in South Carolina. He is presently the Executive Director of SC SHARE where he focuses on the training and certification of Peer Support Specialists in the state of South Carolina. Aaron has worked across the social service provision field in South Carolina including medical social work, outpatient behavioral health treatment, youth residential care, and community employment readiness.

Aaron is a United States Army Veteran who, post-service, earned his bachelor’s degree in social work from Limestone University in 2016 and master’s degree in social work in 2019 with a focus on community, social, and economic development from the University of South Carolina.
