Defining the Scope of Sex Therapy: A Guide for When to Refer Out
Mental Health America of Spartanburg County and the 2024 Educational Series host for July…”Defining the Scope of Sex Therapy: A Guide for When to Refer Out” presented by Carrie Morris, LMFT.

Overall Purpose
When sex-related issues are brought up in therapy, there are several scenarios that might fall outside the scope of practice for a clinician in general practice. This program will help clinicians recognize those topics and feel comfortable referring out to a Sex Therapist with specialized training, ensuring clients receive comprehensive and specialized care for their concerns.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion, participants will be able to…
- Recognize signs and symptoms indicating when a
client’s sexual issues require specialized intervention from a Sex Therapist. - Effectively collaborate with Sex Therapists to ensure comprehensive client care.
