The 9th Annual Mental Health Symposium, held on October 11, 2024, was a resounding success, drawing a vibrant and diverse crowd of over 100 teachers, healthcare and mental health professionals, and community leaders. The event, hosted in partnership with Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System, offered an invaluable space for learning and connection. In light of Hurricane Helene, the community’s commitment to attending was especially meaningful.

Attendees explored vital topics, from the links between marijuana and psychosis to human trafficking, and earned continuing education credits. This year’s symposium featured a silent auction and organizations tabling to provide resources and information to attendees. We thank our exhibitors and sponsors, including iTrust Wellness, The Carolina Center for Behavioral Health, Springbrook Behavioral Health System, and Susan Lea Therapy, for their generous support. The day also celebrated leaders in mental health advocacy, with special awards recognizing individuals who have made a lasting impact.

The event wouldn’t have been possible without the insightful contributions of our speakers, whose expertise guided discussions on pressing mental health issues. A heartfelt thanks goes out to all our of speakers, including those who delved into challenging subjects like traumatic brain injuries and coming together during natural disasters. Their knowledge and passion left a profound impact on the audience.

Special appreciation goes to The Piedmont Club for graciously hosting, providing a welcoming space to facilitate this important event. We are grateful for the support of our sponsors and all who made this event possible. Thank you to everyone who joined us in Spartanburg, standing together to advance mental health awareness and care in the wake of Hurricane Helene.
